Kina Grannis

Kina started playing shows at the age of four in front of her stuffed animals. Now she plays in front of people, though it wasn’t the quickest transition for the admittedly shy songstress.
While attending college at USC, Kina often retreated to the secluded stairwells around campus where she could write and sing without being heard. Protected by their quiet confines, she found a safe haven and a creative outlet for her music. Armed with a guitar and a cup of tea, Kina wrote in every stairwell she came across. And it was within these stairwells that she developed her confidence as a songwriter and her poise as a performer.

Slaughterhouse

The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", and Nino Bless appeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album Halfway House. They decided to form a group, minus Nino Bless, and named the group after the song. Their self-titled debut album was released on August 11, 2009 on E1 Music. The album was reportedly recorded over a six day period in early June. The album features production from Focus, The Alchemist, DJ Khalil, Street Runner and Mr. Porter of D12. Their debut album sold 18,000 copies in its first week (Only 20,000 copies were shipped to stores).Slaughterhouse currently plans to release their second studio album "Welcome To: Our House", the first to be released under Shady Records, on May 15th, of 2012.

Not because he's been endlessly touring or pursuing some wild dream, but because of life - the life of a kid going to college, being in love, dealing with heartache, and just living. "Youth Lagoon isn't me." says Powers. "It's merely a part of me. I was in and out of different bands in high school and always tried to define myself by what music I played. I tried to find a sense of meaning by being in a band. But it wasn't until this last year - when I realized I was more than just music - that I was able to create music that means something to me. And that is Youth Lagoon."
